AHMED’S OBEDIENCE AND PRAYERS OF HIS MOTHER

Ubqari Magazine - April 2013

[“Mother inquired Imam Ghazali about the matter and he confirmed that it was correct as he was reading a book&pondering about some issues regarding the ladies’ physical problems before the prayer but when I started my prayer, my whole attention was towards Allah Almighty. ]

THE EXEMPLARY TRAINING BY THE MOTHER OF HADHRAT IMAM GHAZALI

Imam Ghazali is amongst one of the eminent spiritual personalities Islam has ever produced but all his life reflects the moral strength of training by his blessed mother. There were two brothers namely Mohammad Ghazali and Ahmed Ghazali.  They were brought up by their mother.

Both brothers had contrasting minds; Imam Ghazali was one of the greatest orators and sermon leaders of his age and used to lead the prayers at mosque. But his brother who was equally noble and pious would say his prayers alone rather than in congregation.  Once Imam told his mother that the folks objected that despite the nobility and grace that I enjoy, why my brother does not join me during the prayers.  So he requested the mother to ask his brother to join him in the congregational prayers.  The mother called for the son and advised him accordingly. So in the next prayer, his brother joined him but during the second raka’ah, he left his prayer and departed in the middle of Salaat.

When Imam  finished his prayers, he was quite embarrassed to know that his brother had left the prayer in the middle and was quite dejected.   Upon being asked by his mother why he seemed to be worried, he replied, “Had my brother not attended the prayer, I would have been more pleased. He came, attended half prayer and then prayed indivdually”  Upon hearing that, the mother called for the other brother and asked him the reason about his strange behavior.  He replied that it was all ok till the first raka’ah but his brother’s concentration was on something else during the second raka’ah so I left the prayers and did it alone.  Then the mother asked Imam  about the clarification.  He said that it was correct that I was reading a book of Fiqh before the prayer and the chapter was about the ladies’ specific issues about their purity of body and I was pondering about that but when I started my prayer, my full concentration was towards the Allah Almighty in the first Raka’ah but in the second raka’ah, those issues came in my thoughts for some time but it was quite temporary, so that was the reason for that mistake.

The mother breathed a deep sigh and said that what a pity that none of them could fulfill her desire.  Upon hearing this, both the brothers were feeling ashamed.

Imam  asked forgiveness and apologized but the other brother said that he had experienced Kashf (manifestation) so howcome he had not fulfilled her purpose.

Upon this the mother said, one of you was thinking about the ladies specific issue and other was just watching the heart of his brother, then who was thinking about the Almighty.  What a pity that none of you could fulfill my desire of concentrating about Allah Almighty only.

AHMED: A GOOD BOY

Ahmed was a good-looking kid.  He obeyed elders and loved the young ones.  Ahmed’s parents were quite pleased with him as he was always ready and quite keen to serve them.  Whenever, he was asked to do something by his parents he left no stone unturned for that.

One day, Ahmad’s mother fell ill.  She was laying on the bed when she called Ahmad to come closer to her.  Ahmed rushed towards his mother and kissed her hand with respect.  The mother told him that the milk had finished and he had to go to fetch some milk.  Ahmed took the money and while leaving from his home, hesaid بِسْمِ اللہِ تَوَکَّلْتُ عَلَی اللّٰہِ وَلَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰہ  and rushed to the milk shop; he bought milk there and soon he was back at home.  Then, he boiled the milk and poured some milk into a cup and brought to his mother.  When he reached there, he saw that mother had already fallen asleep.

Ahmad thought for a while that as his mom was not well so it won’t be a good idea to wake up.  But then his tiny mind thought that if her mother had needed some milk in the meanwhile, then it would be troublesome for her if she didn’t find any milk.  So, he decided to remain close to her mom’s bed and wait till she wakes up herself.

He had to wait till his mother woke up.  When the mother found him sitting there, she was quite surprised upon this, Ahmad told her the whole thing that he didn’t want to disturb her sleep so he was sitting there close to her bed.  Ahmed’s mother was very pleased at that and blessed him with lots of prayers.  Then she drank the milk and recited the prayer of drinking milk.
بِسْمِ اللہِ تَوَکَّلْتُ عَلَی اللّٰہِ وَلَاحَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّۃَ اِلَّا بِاللّٰہ

Dear kids!  We should also try our best to obey our parents and help them in their work so that we could also be blessed by their prayers.

Hadhrat Mu’awiah  and TAHAJJUD:

One night, HadhratMu’awiah fell asleep and could not do his midnight prayers. The next morning he was so ashamed and worried that he wept and cried a lot over the loss of his prayer. The next night when he was sleeping he felt someone waking him up.  He asked loudly who was there.  He said that he was the Satan.  HadhratMu’awiah expressed his wonder that how comes the Satan could wake a person up for midnight prayer as he never desired it.  Upon this the Satan said that on the previous night when he couldn’t wake up for the midnight prayer, he was so sorry and sorrowful that he had thought it would have been less rewarding if he had done his prayer than missing it.  So that night, the Satan thought that he should wake him up on the following night as to devoid him from the reward of being sorrowful and seeking forgiveness after missing the prayer.

Sweet kids! This incident tells us that even if we are unable to do a good deed, still we should be sorrowful and aggrieved that we could do it.  That pleases the Allah Almighty a lot.

If Someone’s business is not working:If someone’s business is not working, he should recite   3125 time at his shop for 40 days.  By the Grace of Almighty Allah he would soon become wealthy.
